down on the farm….

Hello dear bloggers,

September is the lead up to my favorite season and while it’s still hot here in the desert, I always think about autumn in New England. I know that the morning is coming, when cool air will great me as I open the door. When that happens, I start to think about planting fall veggies and flowers…

This month at the D & D Challenge, Diane has decided on ‘Down on the Farm’ for the theme. This is what I made…

Sunflowers, gingham and a big white pitcher really evoke farm country for me…

This Sunflower Bouquet stamp from Papertrey Ink gave me the perfect opportunity to open some Copic markers and play. I was amazed that my markers hadn’t dried out in the many months since I’ve used them. The sentiment is from Birthday Basics and is probably my most-used stamp set ever!…

I had also forgotten just how much I enjoy fussy cutting! Since I hadn’t purchased the die that coordinates with this stamp, I set to work cutting out every intricate little bit! I wanted that overhang on the side of the card and the bit of dimension that the thickness of the paper layer supplies.

The sunflower card got me thinking more about fall planting and that led me to another much used stamp set called Vegetable Garden and that lead to this…

I stamped the multi layered vegetables and fussy cut them out, leaving a white margin. The beet has a layer of Glossy Accents which doesn’t show in the photo but adds a nice touch…

The vegetables were raised with adhesive foam, on top of some leaf ribbon. I think veggies are so very pretty. The sentiment came from PTI’s ‘Scripted’ stamp set…

Here is Diane’s inspiration board for this theme. I hope it gives you some wonderful ideas with which to join the challenge!…

  • I’m feeling a lot of love for fall, too, and sunflowers are a wonderful way to express it. Such cheerful flowers. You’re not rusty with the Copics, as this turned out beautiful! And veggies — I wish there were more ways to use them on cards. I do think they’re beautiful. You’ve done a lovely job with this challenge, Rebecca!
