layered stamping on kraft…

Hello everyone. I hope you’re cozy and enjoying this season. There was frost on the neighbors’ roof this morning and the narcissus are starting to develop buds. They usually flower late November through December and I look forward to them each year.

Papertrey Ink has a ‘Make It Monday Challenge #232’ called ‘Layered Stamping on Kraft. The concept has been around for awhile, but I’ve only ever used it once before. Dawn McVey made a good, clear video describing the technique. I selected a layered stamp set, made a kraft card base and had some fun…

Using Papertrey Inks’ stamp set, ‘The Sweet Life’, the roses and leaves were stamped first with solid areas of white pigment ink, proceeded by the layers that are in the set, that add wonderful layers of color. While I was stamping the lower left cluster of leaves, some green ink that I didn’t notice on the stamping block, found its’ way to the large rose…eeeek! Oh that moment when we realize we’ve just made a mistake that has messed up some nice clean stamping!! Fortunately, I had stamped a sample of the large rose to check my color combo, so I dug it out of the trash and cut off the lowest layer of petals and adhered it to the bottom of the largest rose image on the card base to cover that stray, green ink. There are three clear acrylic half domes mimicking drops of water on the petals…

I die cut an oval and used a kraft colored chalk to give definition to the frame. The center was stamped and then treated to some pale pink chalk because there was just too much white and it provided some relief…

It’s a busy, busy time but I had to stop and tell you that I love what you did with this challenge! It’s such a pretty and wonderfully ‘finished’ piece. I also couldn’t agree more about the paper crafting community. Most of the women I’m in contact with are just so lovely. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and sweetness. Hugs, Sarahxx
