fun blooms…

Good morning.  So glad you could stop by~ Today’s newest challenge at The Shabby Tea Room is called fun blooms…

PaperPrimrose TSTR#252-1

I used a fish bowl shaped pattern, to cut a sheet of clear acrylic to make the base of this card.  The fish bowl shaped file comes from our sponsor, The Cutting Cafe.  I scored a sheet of lightweight clear acrylic down the middle, folded and flattened the fold with a bone folder, before lining up the fold at the top of the bowl and cutting out the shape.  Here is the inspiration photo…

There are just so many ways to interpret this photo…the colors, the layers of flowers, the fun filler.  That’s the really fun part of a photo inspired challenge.  Each of us will focus on a different aspect (or aspects) and interpret it with our individual styles.  I cut an oval piece of vellum to fit inside the card to hold my sentiment…

It’s very hard to see the clear acrylic base as it’s truly crystal clear!…

PaperPrimrose TSTR#252-3

I stamped three versions of poppies and colored them in before fussy cutting them.  Very small glue dots were used to attach them to the card base.  The leaves were die cut from green card stock before being stamped with a different shade of green ink.  They too were attached with glue dots, in a band across the clear bowl.

Have a good long look at the inspiration photo and see what aspects of this arrangement make an impression on you.  Then let your creativity flow and come join us for this challenge!

Blessings and hugs,

Absolutely beautiful – the planning that went into it shows. I love all of it but your ability to pull it off is the most awesome. I’m almost an accidental visitor – am cleaning off my desk and found a note with your site address and “Lantern” so wanted to find out what that was about. I make notes so I don’t forget but forget anyway until – surprise! – finding the note again. So I’m off on my search. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents.

  • Hello Rebecca!! I’ve been away for a few days so I’m catching up … This is a gorgeous creation!! I love the poppies in that clear bowl … so clever! And your placement of the leaves is amazing … I hope you have a beautiful weekend and as soon as I’m straight with things I’ll reply to your email … Sending big hugs my friend!
