a bird’s house…

Welcome dear friends.  It’s time for another challenge from Vintage Udfordring.  This 96th challenge is about birds and/or birdcages.  I have a ‘thing’ for houses, so these 2 lucky little birds received a house all their own…

Using Sizzix ‘Gift Card Holder, House’ die, I created a favorite house with a drop down front door.  The wood grained exterior was made with a printed woodgrain paper from Michaels and treated to some additional distressing and coloring. I first added some additional grain lines with a fine felt-tipped, black pen and then dragged some white pigment ink across the paper in the direction of the grain. The paper on the front of the door is Melissa France’s ‘Antonia’ patterned paper.  I used my old Fiskers scallop-edge paper scissor to cut the musical trim along the roof edge.  The tiny birds are from Prima and the garland across the door is made from Wild Orchid Crafts paper roses, mixed with some carved buttons that I repurposed from an old garment.  They rest on a base of linen cord that is tied in tiny bows at each end…

The tag is from PTI’s ‘Tiny Tags’ dies and the little sentiment from Tiny Tags 2 stamp set, also from PTI and heat embossed in white.  A Tim Holtz, screw back post was treated to alcohol inks, snow cap and aqua.  A hole was made with my crop-a-dile and the ‘door knob’ installed.  Inside the house, I used an ancient scrap of patterned paper, probably from Michael’s as well.  The sentiment is from an often used stamp set called, ‘Wishing You’ from Verve.  I won it as a prize from a challenge some years ago and still think it’s an elegant stamp set that has stood the test of time.  The house it topped with some hand dyed seam binding, just cause it’s a consistent favorite of mine!

These are the challenges I will enter this card into;

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful, crafty day~

Sending you blessings and hugs,
