a vintage holiday…

Hello everyone.  I hope you’re cozy and warm today.  So much of the U.S. is brrrrrrrrrr..cold!  Here in the Phoenix area, we are into the 40’s at night and the 70’s during the days.  Wonderful and cold, for us!  It’s put me in the mood to create for the upcoming winter season and fortunately, Sugar Creek Hollow’s newest challenge is to create a vintage Christmas card in non-traditional colors…

This charming vintage image has been in the back of my mind, just waiting for an opportunity to come out and play!  Here is the image for you to save to your computer for your own use…

 

Vintage Image of Children

 

I placed this image onto a die cut tag of warm grey and embellished it with die cut snowflakes…

I partially diecut a tag, cutting only the pretty edge and hand cutting the rest so that it would accommodate the stamped sentiment.  The tag was distressed with Pan Pastels and some shaved mylar (which was used on the image as well).  A cluster of varied white stamen were glued to a dark green fabric base (which I took from a fabric flower) and treated to some picket fence distress paint that was dabbed on…

A double bow was made from some treasured grey and white striped ribbon and embellished with some small bells that have been painted white and treated to a coating of fine white, iridescent glitter.  I attached them to some white wire which allowed me to adjust them in place…

Not wanting a completely plain inside to this card, I added an edge strip of soft grey card stock and a length of the wonderful piqued die cut that was used along the bottom of the card face.  Sometimes, it’s just a little touch of ‘something’ that makes my eyes happy!…
