my springtime wall hanging…

Hello everyone~ Spring is popping up with it’s little signs and shifts…the birds calling to each other, the poppy leaves growing by leaps and bounds and the lengthening days have lead me to ‘fluff up my own nest’.  A beautiful, distressed, clip hanger has been in my crafting room for a long time,  just waiting for some inspiration! It arrived when some ‘Spring Lilacs‘ papers met a gorgeous vintage image…

The vintage image sits behind a wooden frame that was purchased at a big box craft store, painted white, sanded along some edges and then treated to some pale green ink to highlight the edges…

Beneath the frame is a die cut layer of patterned lilacs paper.  The outer edge was touched with a dull lavender distress ink and mounted onto an oval of lilac card stock…

Those layers were adhered to a larger die cut oval of green and white, Spring Lilacs paper and once again, the pale green ink was applied to the outer edge.  Some small millinery violets were tucked into the scrolled wood frame and onto the clips.  An alcohol ink marker was used to color some narrow silk ribbon before it became a multi-looped bow that embellishes one of the clips and adds some much needed asymmetry to an otherwise very symmetrical piece…

This vintage image is so charming and the Spring Lilacs collection is so perfect to enhance her beauty!  I’m including this copyright free image below and hope you enjoy creating with it as much as I have~

    Gorgeous..such a pity I can’t print images like these..only in black and white…

  • So very pretty … I do love those colours

I think you’re making me reconsider my original clean and simple style!! This is soooo lovely and really pretty! Most of the ‘vintage’ creations I’ve seen are just way too overdone for me, but you strike a balance that really appeals and is beautiful without being ‘sugary’, if that makes any sense!? TFS very, very much.

Such a lovely wall hanging and how sweet of you to share it and the image! Thank you very much!

This is genuinely pretty and feminine in a way I hardly ever see anymore. Your style warms my heart and reminds me that pretty is wonderful, even while the world is more concerned with looking sophisticated/haughty. Thanks for sharing your great creative gift and wonderfully soft, tender aesthetic. The world (and me), needs more of it!
