flower fairy…

Hello everyone.  Today’s project is a fairy card!  I’ve never made anything with a fairy on it, but I have some flower fairy stamps and I thought it would be fun to play with one…

I used copic markers to color this tiny and delicate little flower fairy, including the background.  For those of you living in the U.K., you may recognize the here bell flowers.  I find this little figure so delightful!  The wings were colored with bits of lavenders and warm ‘ashes of roses’ colors and then treated to a wonderful coat of a fine, iridescent glitter.  As the card is tilted, a glitter of lavender-periwinkle shows…

There are layers of papers and fabrics in this card.  I tore, chalked and curled vellum.  Cheesecloth was roughly cut, frayed, painted and distress glittered.  Watercolor scraps were torn, painted and distressed…

Bands and scraps of lace were used and a beautiful light green dragonfly alighted on the corner.  Stitching was incorporated too…

The double bow was made from 1/4″ silk ribbon and a die cut of swirling vines and leaves was colored and embellished with two ribbon flowers and a single millinery, velvet violet.  You can see in the photo above, that layers of lacy die cuts were tucked in here and there.  They were also treated to some fairy dust!…

The inside shows the join of the back and front of the card base.  A floral punch was used to embellish the edge and the corner punches of the same design were used on opposite corners of the inside, lavender panel.  The color appeared too strong, so a sheet of vellum was used over it, before adding the sentiment panel of white card stock.
