dreaming of the beach…

Hello everyone.  Today I have a card to share with you that was made for the new Sugar Creek Hollow challenge #50, ‘Dreaming of the Beach’…

I had this beautiful vintage image tucked away and was thrilled for an opportunity to use it!  A search on the internet hasn’t yielded any copyright info, so I’m sharing it with you…

As you can see, I trimmed out only the central image for this card…

and set it inside a die cut oval.  Some gorgeous vintage satin ribbon that my friend Merlie gave to me a few years ago, popped into my head when I saw this image.  It is wrapped around the first panel and really makes a show of the bow!  I adore the shimmering quality of the ribbon and it reminds me of sunlight on water…

Using a sentiment from the ‘About Love’ stamp set from My Favorite Things, along with some seashells that were fussy cut (also from the same stamp set), this card was a pleasure to make from start to finish.  Of course, a big, juicy bow never hurt either!  Summer at the seashore and childhood, evoke wonderful memories to combat the chill of winter.

Sending you warm ((hugs)) and Blessings,

Rebecca

You have captured the beach! This sweet little vintage girl and these warm summer colors make me feel the summer!! It’s simply gorgeous! I haven’t seen this yellow, soft blue combo used like this before and it’s stunning! That lacey oval frame is so perfect for this vintage beach theme and I love the way you ‘floated’ the picture on the frame. The few stamped seashells and that wonderful sentiment in that lovely tag are all fantastic touches that make me swoon over this card!!! hugs, Betsy

  • That’s a lovely image Rebecca – thanks so much for sharing it. I do hope that darling little girl didn’t get her fingers (or toes) nipped by that crab! What a great sentiment too – I really like that. Super summery colour combination on your card – certainly makes me yearn for the warmth of the sun. Margie x

  • Beautiful card. Great vintage image and love that oval die.

  • Oh my goodness … Only you could make a beach scene card look so soft and elegant … Love the ribbon … And that tag … it’s the little touches like the eyelet on the tag that makes this… just so lovely!

  • Such a beautiful card Rebecca. Your choice of colors and the adorable image is a stunning combination.
