table decorations….

As the holiday season is quickly approaching, Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog’s talented design team member Sue is presenting us with the theme of ‘Table Decorations’.  She says, ‘For this challenge we want to see a project that will be on your Christmas table or your Christmas tree. This could be a bauble, table decoration, napkins, table cloth or even crackers!’.  When I read this description, I thought this would be a great opportunity to explore ‘crackers’.  The ones that are commonly found on Christmas dinner tables in the United Kingdom.  I want to be able to make them for all sorts of occasions, so I experimented and came up with this prototype…

I used some Melissa Frances paper, a purchased cracker stem (they really do pop!), some odd bits of ribbon, a deep edge punch and a commercial gift tag that I dressed up with a bit more glitter and a small triple bow…

I love the vast array of possibilities!  This is just the first one…

This week brought some terribly sad news to me.  A friend very dear and near to my heart passed away after a long illness.  We all thought that we might be blessed to have her for a few more years but it wasn’t to be.  Her funeral earlier today, was a gathering of people who respected and cherished her.  I needed quiet and reflective time and so, I will not be presenting the tutorial I had planned for you in this post.  I will however, be presenting a cracker tutorial with all the details and more samples to share with you in another post.  It is my hope to do it soon, so you can include these memorable, interactive decorations for any holiday or celebration when you get those you love around the table!

With Blessings and ((hugs)),
