Hi there~ This week at the Frilly and Funkie challenge, Trace has created a challenge called ‘What’s Your Poison’. She asks that we create a card or project for Halloween using green and black with NO orange…at all! The suitcase that I’ve been crafting from the past month, is getting a little sparse! I wanted black lace and some detailed die cuts to work with, but no luck. So I’ve done my best with a simple circle die cut, a wonderful Tim Holtz stamp set, some buttons that I purchased at my new, favorite charity shop in Skipton, called ‘The Bird Cage’, some embossing powders, lime green stickles and black self adhesive rhinestones…
There was still a length of black satin ribbon in my traveling stash, but it was too stiff and thick for this card, so I sliced it into thin lengths and tied it into a cluster for a touch of softness. A thin length was also used to thread through the button…
I do love this lineup of little quirky stamped figures…I embossed them onto a piece of watercolor paper that I colored with Inktense pencils by Derwent. They are made here in England and they are heavily pigmented watercolor pencils. I used apple green and sherbet lemon to create an intensely colored, green moon. The figures were then stamped in watermark ink followed by black embossing powder. My lime green embossing powder is home in Arizona, so I masked off the first word of the sentiment stamp and embossed it in white.
It’s exciting to look forward to your creative take on this challenge…I hope you enjoy this interesting take on Halloween!!
