sweet silhouettes…

This week it’s Rebekah’s turn to host The Shabby Tea Room‘s challenge and she has chosen this photo as inspiration…

The challenge is to produce a card or a project using a silhouette as the focal point. For my first project, I created a card using a 3 x4″ tag I cut from a sheet containing 12 gorgeous tags and a well-used stamp to produce the silhouette.  I die cut the card panel with ‘Grand Large Labels’ , leaving the fold intact at the top. To add definition I outlined the impressed mark made during the die cutting with a Copic multiliner…

To customize the flowers, I used a Copic marker to add some color to mimic the printed flowers.  It needed a little something to balance the off-set layout.  Three self adhesive jet gems did the trick.

A die cut doily in black to anchor the tag and some layered bows made of hand dyed seam binding add dimension…

Just like adding a piece of jewelry to an outfit, I added a trinket  pin made from a florist’s stick pin (with a typical tear drop pearl at the top) and a few beads added for interest.

Next I created two tags using a digital printout from a favorite Etsy shop called ‘Digital Paper’.  This particular download is called Vintage Silhouettes and contains lots of images to choose from…

I punched out the silhouette image with a 1-1/4″ square punch and layered it onto two fancy die cuts that were embellished with liquid pearls.  Some printed  crepe paper made the rosette and it was all layered onto a card stock tag, covered with a striped paper…

The next tag used another sweet image from the same sheet, again layered onto die cuts and a card stock tag, with a smaller black layer and a swallow tailed length of striped ribbon.  Both tags have a tiny tag added to the ribbon at the top, stamped with a well-used sweet sentiment from Paper Sweeties.

The backs were quickly made with fancy squares and some leftover die cut brackets.  I use the ‘To:’ and ‘From:’ out of a seasonal stamp set that does double duty year round!

Have some fun and join us with your silhouette creation!  I can’t wait to see all your creativity!!

*Hugs*

Rebecca

Just gorgeous! I love the punch of color with the silhouette! Fabulous embellishments and generally fabulous!!! Great Rebecca

  • What lovely tags! The black and cream ones are chic and elegant, but the showstopper is the one loaded with rich color and embellies! LOVE that aqua base layer, and touching up the flowers with Copics is a stroke of genius! I never thought of doing that – thanks! The bow is deliciously soft and squishy, and the pin finishes the card to perfect. Thanks so much for sharing!
