Here at Frilly and Funky, Linda has presented a challenge to ‘Follow Your Muse’. I decided to share a little project that I made two years ago. It was never my plan to share it, as I made it ‘just because’ and to please no one but myself. I came across it this past week and decided that a ‘muse’ inspired challenge was just right for this. My inspiration was a piece of paper that was covered with words that I think Rebecca Sower had used to describe herself. It was full, from one edge to the other and I wish I could direct you to that project, but I’ve rattled my mind and searched, but can’t find it. I just remember that it left me thinking about what I would include if I were to make something similar. I didn’t want to think of the 1 or 2 hundred words she had used in her project and I’m not a fan of my penmanship either! Her words were so visually inspiring. So, this little album was my response…
It’s pretty small and fits in the palm of my hand. It’s about some of the things in life that bring pleasure, make me smile and nourish my soul…
The inside cover holds a tiny, puffy red glass heart…
some stamps and bits of lace and netting…
Color~one of the consistent joys in life! Stamping on paint chips…one that was nice enough to be printed with my name!…
a recurrent theme..nest and home…
and the most amazing blessing of my life…
whatever words popped into my head along with some free-form beading…
some stamped images cutout and added..some directly onto the page…
flowers always seem to speak to my heart…
and trees..they have another very special place in my heart and mind…
I’ve never been able to figure out what it is about dark grey skies and storms that I love so much.. just that I do…
Ribbons have delighted me for as long as I can remember…
they all seem to make these connections.. treasured connections…
Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to seeing where your muse leads you.. it’s always somewhere wonderful!
Hugs and blessings,
Rebecca

How totally AMAZING this is! I love the personal, spontaneous creativity that just flows out of this completely precious work of art! Each page has me wanting to touch it and examine it closely. It’s beautiful. I love the rough cardboard pages and the messages that run through it! I’m in love! Thanks for sharing this very personal piece with us! Happy New Year to you too!

OMG! This is the sweetest thing I’ve seen in ages! I love the shabby and heartfelt look of this little book and the gorgeous embellishments and sentiments!! How did you bind it? It looks like linen? and very intriguing! Thanks so much for sharing your creativity!!! Happy New Year! and hugs, Liz
I love cardboard and use it a lot but I never thought about using it as a page. It’s a really fabulous little album!

What a wonderful, fantastic, amazing, creative and INSPIRED work of art. I was fascinated as I scrolled through each little page, an idea brewing in my head for a gift for my grown daughter. It will take shape throughout this year as I add to it bit by bit. Thanks for the wonderful, thoughtful inspiration!
Wow, what an amazing piece of work this is Rebecca. So very original and detailed. And how delightful just to be able to follow your muse where it takes you just for the sake of creating. Thank you so much for sharing with us and our Friily and Funkie readers!

Oh I’m so glad that you posted this … It’s beautiful!!! And I found myself agreeing with many of the things you put as being special to you … Wonderful work and so very inspiring
Oh Rebecca!!!! I just LOVE THIS!!!!!! It is so important to recognize the things that bring us happiness and bliss! And to dwell in gratitude for them. I think I need to make one of these for myself this year! I would have many of the same things – home, nest, my son, flowers – especially garden grown roses, trees, hummbingbirds…crafty time and things…you really have me thinking about all the beauty in my life. Sending hugs and hoping all is going well…
Jill
