my favorite…

This week at The Shabby Tea Room, each one of us on the Design Team is showing our favorite project of 2012 that uses a Paper Sweeties stamp.  There are a few projects that came to mind, but here is the one I thought of first!

I began by choosing my sentiment, from ‘You Make Me Smile’.  It’s full of really lovely statements, like this one.  Then I started die cutting some burlap and veil netting, to create a special blossom.

I made a little envelope from some beautifully patterned paper and used an edge cutting die to shape the flap.  An 18K gold pen added a wonderfully golden brightness to the edge. I repeated the gold line along the outside edge of the base card.

I over-stamped the pattern on the envelope with ‘signed, sealed, delivered’ and a postage mark in classic kraft ink and added some soft tones to white paper flowers.  All the edges of the paper layers are inked and the some are heavily distressed as well.  I used two tones of glimmer mist on the half doily and on the background patterned paper.  In real life, it really glows!  The surprise is the copper mist.  It’s outstanding against the pink and works so well with the touches of gold.

Then, I needed a gift to go along with this card.  Taking my cue from the inspiration photo and rummaging around my supplies, I made this bookmark…

I am blessed with truly wonderful friends and this little combo is destined for a dear friend who surprised me with a very unique card stand that is in my crafting space, holding my favorite cards.  This friend is..’sweet’, just as the charm says!…

Thank you!  I’m so glad you stopped by for a visit!  and all my very Best Wishes for a wonderful holiday season and New Year!

*Hugs*

  • A stunning project that truly deserves to be a favourite! You have just inspired me to dig out my tea time papers, so thanks for that!

Have the most wonderful holiday season!

GORGEOUS Rebecca..love that edge with the gold pen too such a great idea!
(would love to see a picture of that card stand)
All my very best wishes for this Holiday Season for you too!
    Hugs Holly.

  • You really did a great job with this! Got me all enthused over burlap again! I did not know I could get it at Joann’s! I have one little smelly pc left from and old sack I have been holding on to! haha I also love the use of the net. I enjoy not only netting, but gauze from an old 1st Aid kit. It is fun to use. I fell in love with the Kraft ink, too! I do not have any, so will have to get some ordered.

Thanks for your great work, you really “delivered”.
    Hugs, Pat

  • This still makes me smile … a beautiful card and lovely bookmark … Hope you had a good Christmas …

  • What a delightful card. Actually, it’s a piece of art. I’ve been tooling around your blog and there’s so much shabby goodness here that it’s hard for me to focus on just one entry. I want to view them all simultaneously! This card and bookmark are absolutely out of this world and have inspired me to pull the burlap out and use it on feminine cards and not save it just for masculine cards. You do stunning work and I’m going to follow you so I can enjoy more of your art. TFS!

Thank you for your kind comment
