aqua, pink and silver box…

This week at The Shabby Tea Room, Debbie is hosting a challenge called ‘Shabby Chic Holiday’, based on this gorgeous inspiration photo…

We are challenged to create a card or project using white or cream, along with pink, aqua and glitter.  I decided to make a whimsical little container that began with an unfinished, embossed paper maché  box…

completely coated with white acrylic paint.  To give it shimmer,  I used a layer of ‘Multi-Surface Glitter’ paint in Wintermint for the outside, while the inside is coated with the same paint in Cotton Candy~ a great shade of pink…

Perched on the lid, a pink glass bird ornament now sits on two pink pearl eggs. Her nest is made from a length of antiqued silver tinsel trim and behind her is a die cut chipboard snowflake, coated with white acrylic paint and then a heavy layer of mica chips.  Behind that are two metallic silver leaves, followed by layers of white fabric flower petals with clear acrylic swirls of snowflakes scattered between the layers…

behind the layers of flowers, is another layer of fluffy white feathers.  To keep all these layers in check and standing upright, I made an L-shaped support from chipboard.  It’s hidden behind a glittery snowflake…

The base was made from a piece of die cut chipboard, covered with die cut patterned paper that has been dry brushed with white acrylic at the edges.  A silver doily sits on top and the box was attached to this base and then ringed with antiqued tinsel for some extra sparkle… I’m hoping to find some tiny baubles that have the look of mercury glass, to hide among the tinsel.

Thanks bunches for stopping by!  Hope your day has something bright and beautiful in it!

*Hugs*

Rebecca
