sweet, shabby christmas…

This week, the talented Lenet is hosting a challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. It is inspired by this gorgeous image…

We are challenged to create a card or project using the colors in this photo along with some shimmer!..  I decided to use Janet’s ‘Christmas Circles” to make a garland and wrapped it around a gift box to serve double duty!..

I printed the images at 130% onto white card stock and punched out all but three of the forty circles, with a 1″ circle punch.  Using a 1 1/4″ circle punch and silver glittered paper, I punched circles to frame the images.  With pale aqua, pink and cream card stock, I punched and die cut an assortment of snowflake shapes.

The round images were mounted onto the glittery silver circles and then randomly adhered to snowflakes.  They were attached to a flat, quarter inch silver trim, alternating with little bows of hand dyed seam binding, punched doves of glittered silver paper, glittered buttons and single card stock snowflakes. There are so many variations for you to play with…these vintage images could make banners with feathers, pinecones, tiny fabric banners… The list is endless and I love the idea of making each banner a little different.  The sweet little images give this project so much charm.  It would be a lovely tree garland as well!

Hope you have fun making some holiday decorations!  It’s a wonderful way to make memories as well!  If you have children around (or can borrow some), they will probably love helping, and less than perfect is terrific!!!!  Happy, satisfying memories are so much more important than ‘perfect’ projects~

Thanks for stopping by~ I’m enjoying grey skies and cooler temperatures!  If you’re struggling to keep warm, before you growl at me… remember we had five months with temperatures over 100 degrees and many, many of those days were over 110F 😉

*Hugs*

Rebecca
