another surprise….

Have you heard about the challenge blog called ‘Frilly and Funky‘?  It is a really interesting and fun challenge blog that has a new challenge every fortnight (two weeks).  The first week is the ‘frilly’ side.  The second week is about ‘funky’. Most of us fit comfortably into one side or the other and sometimes..both. I love being able to see all the different approaches to the same challenge!!!  You’ve probably guessed that I’m on the frilly side.  I’m also now a member of the design team!!  I couldn’t be more delighted!!  I love the challenges and the ‘Funkie Junkie Boutique’ that you can get to from this site.  It offers terrific prices and lots and lots of the fun stuff!!

For this challenge, the talented Anita is asking for creations about ‘A Different Kind of Tag’ and using Autumn or Halloween as the theme!  I love this challenge!!  It got me thinking about other ways of using tags. Thinking differently about something familiar, always leads to a great creative time!

Let me show you my project as it’s meant to be given….

This is just a folded piece of paper, making a presentation sack…

open on the sides and tied closed at the top with a tiny tag that says, ‘for you’…

Embellished with assorted fabric leaves, wild roses..paper of course, jute string, beads and rhinestones…

It opens to reveal three embellished sacks, each one containing a coordinating blank tag.  Each sack has been die cut across the top to create file tabs…

Each sack and tag are different, but all coordinate…

This one has portion of a vintage style ‘scrap’ page, feathers, leaves, jute string, a button and a rhinestone…

The tag has some more ‘scrap’ images, a paper mat and die cut tag…

This sack has the same (but different) elements as the first…

I added distress ink to an unfinished wooden button and die cut a tissue paper leaf to add to this group…

Some fun little ‘scrap’ creatures on this tag…

Variations on this theme for the third time…

a brass button and a slight shift in the autumnal palette…

and the third tag…

I really enjoyed making this project.  I didn’t stamp any sentiments yet because this, or a similar set, could be used in so many ways.  For someone with an autumn birthday, photos, quotes, personal sentiments or little gifts could fill each sack.  For a friend who writes, poems or writing prompts would be fun.  My favorite thought is as a surprise, filled with small gifts or treasures.  There will soon be a tutorial or a video to show you how to make the container.

Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with me!
