The quality of the light has changed and it is now hot without being sizzling. Leaves don’t begin to fall here in the desert, until well into November and yet my body knows about the shift in the season. I have been making soups again and seeking out dishes with sweet potatoes and cranberries!! There is a partial box of formerly fresh strawberries in the fridge, ready to be thrown out as the berries are getting fuzzy~ they’re never there long enough to rot during the spring and summer! This ‘shift’ happens every year and yet I’m amazed by it. I grew up in New England and I still miss the four distinct seasons….especially autumn.
I’m happy to immerse myself in the splendor of autumn through paper crafting! Wild Orchid’s Challenge #59 is about ‘autumn colors’. Inspired By Stamping‘s challenge #27 supplies a gorgeous inspiration photo and requests reds, oranges and creams as the main colors. Both challenges have lots of inspiring creations and are well worth visiting. This is the inspiration for IBSIC…
This is what I made…
I think of autumn as an explosion of rich color and texture. Since I can’t gather beautiful leaves, I made my own, along with some autumn sunflowers.
I love the mix of the flat, stamped leaves and 3D flowers! Cream colored pearls were used to make berries. Tiny stamens from some silk flowers were glued into the holes of the pearls to create the little dried flower end that remains on ripe berries. Some 1/4″ cream silk ribbon was made into a bow with four sets of loops.
The sentiment inside is one of my favorite quotes about the season. Leaves, like flowers, always make me smile.
Wishing you happiness found in simple things~
*Hugs*
Rebecca

Oh my, you outdid yourself again! Just wonderful. You did an amazing match with the colors, and even the ribbon was the same shade and texture as the lamp shade! Just lovely Rebecca.

Wow. Those brightly colored leaves are gorgeous on their own, but framed in black, with 3D flowers and pearl berries mixed among them, they really sing!
I am SO glad you came to play with us at Inspired By Stamping, Rebecca, and hope to see you play with us again soon.
The striking black background is perfect for the gorgeous fall colors on this card, Rebecca!

I am smiling! What a beautiful autumn card! I love each season and this card makes me think of growing up in the midwest. We lived on a street lined with giant maple trees in Glen Ellyn, Il. The leaves turned the most beautiful shades each fall and we spent hours raking and then jumping in them over and over again. The smell of maple was in the cold crisp air! Simpler times and lots of fun! Thanks for inspiring the memory for me!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!! Like you, I grew up in the east and miss autumn so much! Your card embodies the colors of autumn that I long for!!!!!!!! Thanks for such amazing inspiration!!
