soft neutrals…

I am delighted to be The Shabby Tea Room‘s Guest Designer this week!  I adore this challenge blog and the Shabby Girl Designers~ such amazingly talented ladies!  Thank you!

This week’s Shabby Tea Room’s challenge is all about Soft Neutrals ~ These are the gorgeous, inspiring images, full of texture and luscious soft neutrals to spark our creativity…

I started with a copy of a treasured photo of my Grandparents on their wedding day.  I’ve been pulled to create with it lately.

My memories are of them are in the later years of their lives and now I love seeing them as a young couple.  I layered many of my favorite embellishments~ And the tiniest touch of robin’s egg blue for my Grandmother’s eyes.  Her eyes remained a clear turquoise blue her entire life!

I love glassine and kraft sacks and I love layers~a marriage made in heaven!

A sheet of vintage sheet music is adhered to the kraft bag so that it can show through the glassine.  My Grandmother was an amazing piano player (never mind that she never learned to read a note  ;) !  My Grandfather’s talents were in mathematics and I suppose that’s incorporated by way of design elements, though I’m not usually conscious of design principles as I play!

The inside card layer has a punched edge along the top and is layered with a panel of patterned paper, edged with another punched border .  A bow made from ivory seam tape has been splattered with brown die ink and finished with a dear little aged brass, heart charm.

I’m going to set this card aside, to use when one of their great grandchildren celebrates a wedding or anniversary.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit~

*Hugs*

Rebecca
