The Shabby Tea Room’s 124th challenge is all about pink! This is the gorgeous inspiration photo…
and this is my creation…
I love the look of condensation on the glass! Glossy accents, dripped onto upright card stock mimics it very well!
The title of this challenge brought to mind something that you may find interesting. Have you heard about the emotional ties of pink? … pink is said to represent happiness, particularly in the past. When people ‘hate’ pink it is believed to be tied to a particularly unhappy childhood or to a specific event. I think there’s truth to this research. I ‘hated’ pink, until I was able to tie that reaction to a repeated event. When my sister and I were children, our grandmother (who had two sons and always wanted a daughter) would buy us beautiful fancy dresses each spring. One was always pale blue and the other pink. Mine was always pink, because she thought I looked best in the color and my sister, the pale blue. She was correct about her observations, but I pined for that pale blue and really came to resent ‘having’ to wear the pink one! For years I thought pink was an awful, horrible, dreadful color, until I was in college and I read about things like, ‘Subjective Color Theory’ and ‘The Psychology of Color’. I started to think about my very strong reaction to the color. Once I linked it to those events my response to pink changed without any further effort!! Pretty amazing! I’m glad to have pink in my repertoire of beloved colors~
