hexagon love…

City Crafter Challenge Blog and Moxie Fab’s Challenge are about hexagons and I’m so glad they are!!! I’ve had a hexagon die sitting untouched for about a month and needed a reason to break it open and play and what tremendous fun it is!  I started by die cutting a few colors from scraps and quickly realized that the ‘fun’ part of this project was going to be in the color play.  Fortunately, the last time I brought a donation to The Boys and Girls Club Thrift Shop, I also purchased some mini muffin pans from their shelves.  They have been tremendously useful to sort colors and they stack so that the leftovers will be ready for action at the next opportunity!

Here’s the first result…

If time were no constraint, there would be a line up of a baker’s dozen!  I discovered that I love the look of hexagons ‘floating’ on the background, rather than being inset into a die cut ‘frame’.  So, I used a smidge of temporary adhesive to hold the die cut frame onto the face of the card and began adhering the colored blocks in place.  When I was done, I lifted the frame off and was left with perfectly placed pieces.

Oh the possibilities!  I’m so eager to finish with the duties of the day and return to my tray’s of color!

Thanks for visiting~

{{Hugs}} and blessings~

  • Fun cards, Rebecca, love the colors, you must have a punch or a die! I had to hand cut mine, I don’t think I would have hand cut all to those, but they are beautiful cards! Have a lovely day.

So pretty – I prefer the patches (can’t help calling them patches not hexigons) unframed too. What a lovely way to spend an hour or so choosing and arranging colours.

  • oh I love them both!

  • Those are great. I think if I stored my “STUFF” as neatly as you do I might not have such a challenge! haha Great idea with the mini muffin tins!

    Have a good weekend.
