I used the delightful inspiration photo from the Ribbon Reel challenge to launch this project.
This project is a gift container and card in one!
The card is an easel, which can stand up for presentation and it has a drawer, which is a perfect place for a gift of sweets, stationary, a scarf or something selected with the lucky recipient in mind! The Ribbon Reel challenge asks for a heart, sparkle and ribbon or lace. I ‘frosted’ the cupcakes with clear, coarse glitter to look like baker’s ‘sanding’ sugar.
Some Prima swirls, cut apart and rearranged, add some more sparkle. Two Martha Stewart heart punches, raised above contrasting solid hearts made dimensional embellishments that I love. Some of my favorite scalloped, velvet trim from American Crafts, layered over a gathered, pink organza trim from May Arts were used to suggest a table top for the stack of cupcakes and again to trim the drawer and box.
Labels #4 dies (by Spellbinders) were used to create the mats that surround the pile of cupcakes. The ‘sweet’ sentiment comes from Papertrey Inks ‘Garden Variety’ set, stamped onto a vellum banner made with another Spellbinder’s die. I am in love with the gorgeous, tiny roses and the large pearl button/brad on the drawer, from Wild Orchid.
The easel unfolds, laying flat for shipping. Just think of the possibilities… a baby gift, sweet 16 celebration, a guy version, graduation and lots of other themes.
