tea party invitation bag…

The Ribbon Reel‘s challenge this week is called, ‘Let’s Have Tea’ and is based on an inspiration photo that is totally adorable!

Most of us are still ‘little girls’ at heart, loving to dress up and sit at beautifully dressed tables, chat with friends and share treats!  While summer has arrived in the northern edge of the Sonoran Desert, along with temperatures over 110°, I’m dreaming of a garden tea party next spring.  This lead me to thoughts of how I would like to give invitations~  As an alternative to a card (and you know I love those as well), a gift bag to set the theme and feeling of a tea party came to mind.  How lovely to receive some treasures in advance~ perhaps some vintage gloves, an old fabric flower pin, a teacup and saucer from a yard sale, a little bag of special tea and a hand crafted card with a heartfelt message to let the recipient know just how important her presence would be~ lots of possibilities!

I always keep some kraft gift bags handy.  The possibilities for embellishment is endless and great fun.

Three stamped hats, each with it’s own decorations inspired by the challenge photo, a little tag with a tea bag charm and bands of lace for the background…

A ‘re-purposed’ piece of wired ribbon for the ribbon tail that connects the hats and is topped with a triple bow for good measure!

I love tea parties and April and May are the time when the garden is at it’s most beautiful here.  The garden will once again be full of hollyhocks, roses, delphinium, foxglove, ruffled pansies, snapdragons, stock, alyssum, lobelia and lots of other volunteers.  I had better start planning now!

  • Rebecca – love your hats, the purple bow and the idea of a tea party! I threw one for my 4 sisters and my Mom before my youngest sister went off to college. I used pretty antique china and silver, roses from the garden and crocheted tablecloths and old embroidered linens. We had a lovely tea with finger sandwiches and fresh fruit and spent some time among my garden too. Have fun my dear!!! It is so worth it to take the time to have tea with friends and/or family! 🙂 You brought back a lovely memory for me today which makes me want to throw another tea party!

  • Just gorgeous Rebecca, love those fun hats all in a row, and the lacy trim, so pretty!
Thanks for joining us at The Ribbon Reel this week!

Fabulous idea!! Can I come? No one has ever sent me a gift bag as an invitation, but I would LOVE one! You found a way to start the party ahead of time! Beautifully done!

What a totally terrific idea(s)! I love the thought of sending/recieving a gift bag in advance of the party! Scouring the drawers and flea markets for little trinkets appeals to me as much as the party! Oh btw, the bag is over the top fab! Love the hats and that great bow and ribbon! Adore the lace background!

  • This is a really lovely idea! I love the lace and pretty hats – so elegant!
