a moment to remember…

City Crafter’s challenge #114 is entitled ‘Time After Time’.  You can visit the site HERE.   This is the inspiration photo..

When I saw this photo, I knew the sort of ‘feel’ I wanted .  That meant this card would have a very different look from the my usual creations!

The first step was to stamp the clock face and then to emboss it with 6 layers of UTEE (ultra thick embossing powder- don’t know where that second E comes from!). Then I tossed it into the freezer for about 5 minutes, took it out and bent it to create cracks.  Some brown ink, rubbed in and then wiped off, created the crazing on the clock face.  I die cut Spellbinders Label #18 and stamped it with Galaxy Gold archival ink from Brilliance, using a lovely stamp from Waltzing Mouse’s ‘Vintage Label #18′ set. The aqua panel of patterned paper is from Graphic 45′s ‘Steampunk Debutante’ collection in a 6 x 6 pad.  The sentiment is a favorite from Papertrey Ink’s ‘Harvest Berries’ set.  It reads,’Take a Moment to Remember how special you are & how lucky the world is to have  you in it’. I inked the top portion of the sentiment stamp with dark chocolate ink and stamped it above the die cut. The remainder was stamped below the die cut.  The edges of this panel were heavily distressed and inked and then cogs, a pen nib, a piece of old film strip, a brown mica sheet, paperclip, trinket pin and key charm were added and then mounted on to a dark brown card base.  A parchment panel has been added to the inside.

It’s my idea of a ‘good time’, to work in many different styles, push myself with different color combinations and new sketches, so thanks Ira for this challenge!

Also, I found a Swedish site called ‘Vintage Udfordring’.  It doesn’t have translation capabilities and both Babelfish and Google translate were unable to give me a translation.  You can visit the site HERE.  I’m going to enter this challenge anyway…just for the fun of it!

*Hugs*
