I just love some shabby in my week! and the Shabby Tea Room has a lovely pastel inspiration and a request for cupcakes! You can visit them here. I must admit, I have steered around the cupcake craze with only one cupcake card a few years ago. So, here goes…….
The cupcake is made from a free hand cut of cardboard, painted then distressed. The frosting is cardboard as well, coated with Martha Stewarts’ cotton candy glitter paint. The stuff is phenomenal! It goes on any surface and provided you give it time to harden, can go outdoors! The glitter is very well distributed and doesn’t clump. I cut a pink felt heart, two tiny leaves and an even smaller paper heart for the cupcake decorations.
The turquoise doily is cut from PTIs’ Delightful Doilies collections’ ‘A’ plate. The pink background paper is stamped with Damask Designs in fresh snow.
I used copic YG01 to add color to the seam binding, letting it splotch and touching it lightly with a darker green. The buttons were ‘frosted’ with Stickles Stardust for some added fun. I used a sentiment from Birthdays By the Number. Since I wanted some detail around the edges, but didn’t want the attention a stitched line gets, I stitched without thread.
Time to cut some spinach from the backyard, for dinner. It’s a wonderful luxury having fresh greens handy!
